As the Royalty Audit Specialist, you will need a strong understanding of the music industry, specifically in entertainment royalties. In addition, this individual will:
Assist Royalty Compliance department in planning and conducting royalty compliance audits and fieldwork procedures.
Assist supervisor and department management in the review of client royalty agreements and their contractual terms to outline the scope of review, report executables and delivery timeline for each examination.
Correspond with royalty sources to request, compile and track the examination document requests and track delivery and follow up of requested items.
Manage the data normalization process required to analyze and interpret royalty statements while continuing to maintain and preserve the original information.
Compile and maintain large datasets to identify potential royalty claims.
Prepare condensed audit analysis of royalty statements to identify missing revenue and audit claim items.
Review external “unclaimed/ suspense” earnings reports from applicable sources and determine possible unclaimed royalties.
Assist department staff with preparation of draft royalty audit reports and schedules for presentation to clients and sources.
Prepare various desk audit summary reports for desk audit and compliance review.
Perform such other duties related to a royalty audit as needed.
Assist in on-site fieldwork as needed. (some local travel may be required).
Bachelor's Degree required. Emphasis on Music Business or Recording Industry Management in Accounting, Finance, Economics with strong academic record, strongly desired.
4+ years of Entertainment Royalty (record/publishing company) or Income Tracking experience.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, emphasis in working knowledge of advanced features (pivot tables, lookups, advanced filtering) is a must. Understanding of Macros is a plus.
Knowledge of Microsoft Access/Power BI or other database programming language is a plus.
Strong analytical skills and experience working with large, complex data (with an emphasis in accuracy and problem-solving) is required.
Prior experience in Royalty Audit or Data Analytics is a plus.
Must be highly organized, detailed-oriented, able to prioritize work and manage multiple audits at once.
