Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.
— William Butler Yeats

I can recite pi from memory to 32 decimal places (which is also the first occurrence of zero).

After working at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, it became apparent to me that higher education needed to be held to a higher standard. After 20-years inside the music industry, I knew the music industry is creatively engaged, apprenticeship-based and relationship-driven. Yet, the chasm between what the industry needs and what traditional higher education provides was immense.

So, I took a leap of faith and I jumped.

I called upon my own education as a graduate of Belmont University, my experience at major and independent record labels, recording studios, music publishing, music journalism, as well as other college music industry programs I developed. With all this in mind,  I committed three years, over a million dollars, and an advisory panel of experts to build GROOVE U.

Today, our graduates stand as a testament to my vision of just how high higher education can climb.

I write songs.
I play the ukulele. And the washboard tie.
Also, I sing... sorta.
