Columbus is undoubtedly a musically rich city. There are forces within Central Ohio that exist to grow and nurture that talent. Two of those forces are now proud to announce an official partnership to further each other's missions: IN THE RECORD STORE and GROOVE U.
After appearing on the 41st episode of "ITRS," GROOVE U's Primary Catalyst Dwight Heckelman began talks about how both could work together. “Being a guest on an ITRS episode showed me that both GROOVE and ITRS share much of the same philosophy — thinking globally acting locally as it pertains to the music scene here in central Ohio.” said Heckelman. “During the experience, I thought about how great it would be to have ITRS housed on our Creative Campus. Since GROOVE U had some underutilized space, it just made sense to try and figure out a way we could continue to build up the music community together."
"We've been looking for some permanent space and GrooveU came along at the perfect time," says Vince - one of the "In The Record Store" hosts. "We both exist to nurture and promote musical talent, so this was an exciting and obvious fit."
"In The Record Store" will now be moving into GROOVE U’s internet broadcast studio where they will record their show and live performances with local artists. This will afford students the opportunities to work with and to see the start-to-finish operation of how podcasts come together. GROOVE U will receive regular promotion across the "ITRS" digital platforms.
"We are excited about the continued expansion of both ITRS and GROOVE U. As our trajectories continue to arc upwards, we are confident this will be a mutually beneficial endeavor," says Dwight.
IN THE RECORD STORE is a bi-weekly podcast heading into it's third year. With nearly 50 episodes, the show has listeners in Canada, Japan, Germany, France - even Greece and New Zealand.
