“The Mixer” Features Campus Visit, EP Release Party, Networking Event & Homecoming Dance
COLUMBUS, Ohio (October 16, 2014) — Columbus-based music industry career program,
GROOVE U, welcomes past, present and prospective students on Saturday, November 1 for
its first ever Homecoming Mixer. The day features tours of the creative campus, an EP
release party, a networking event for students with local music industry leaders and
culminates with a Halloween-themed Homecoming dance.
Starting at 2 pm, students and individuals interested in a career in the music industry are
invited to take a campus tour and learn about the GROOVE U Advantage at a session with
founder and director, Dwight Heckelman. Representatives from Telhio Credit Union will be
on hand to answer questions about financing.
Immediately following the campus visit is a mini-concert at 4 pm featuring songs by the
2014 Instaband winner, up and coming band Underground Magic. The group has a distinct
alternative/electronica sound, and is releasing its first studio EP on GROOVE U’s studentrun
record label, Elementary Records. Luke Harris, another Elementary Records artist, will
open for Underground Magic.
At 6 pm, GROOVE U brings together local music industry professionals representing audio,
video, live sound and creative media for a networking event catered to current students
and alumni. One of GROOVE U’s advantages is helping students establish and nurture
relationships with local, and global industry pros.
The day will conclude with a Halloween Homecoming Dance DJ’d by GROOVE U’s own
students from 7:00-9:00 pm. Guests are encouraged to dress up like their favorite music
artist - dead or alive. Tickets to the dance are $5 at the door, or free for those with
wristbands from visit day.
RSVP for one, or all of the events happening at GROOVE U: The Mixer at
www.grooveu.net. Can’t make it on November 1? Schedule a private campus tour and
information session by connecting with GROOVE U online, or calling (614) 291-6122.
